Our much loved annual Christmas Concert!

Will Todd spent his formative years steeped in choral music and jazz. Nowadays he is one of our most popular contemporary composers, and has written several Choral Jazz works expertly blending the two. Tonight’s main piece Jazz Missa Brevis began life as as a series of improvisations which he honed and developed into completed movements, each with their own style. The result is a vibrant and inspiring choral setting of the sung Latin Mass texts, much loved by choirs and audiences alike.

Also on the bill are many other choral festive favourites sung by Berkhamsted Choral and Bridgewater School Choir, and Christmas carols for everyone – all accompanied by English Philharmonia Brass (this year incorporating a jazz trio!) and our amazing organist Iestyn Evans.

A workshop with Berkhamsted Choral

Come and Sing the famous choruses from Handel’s magnificent Messiah!

Join Berkhamsted Choral for the day to sing in a workshop led by our conductor Graham Wili and accompanied by concert pianist Fei Ren.

This event is for everyone, from experienced singers who may be familiar with the work to those who would like to give choral singing a go in an informal and friendly atmosphere. You may even be inspired to join the choir!

Doors will open at 9:30am for a 10am start, with a free concert for friends and family at 3:30pm and an estimated 4:15pm finish. Tea, coffee and plenty of cake will be available – but remember to bring some lunch!
