The final night of our summer tour!

Every August the choral societies of Berkhamsted and Chorleywood join forces to form Gaudeamus Chorale, and together with organist Iestyn Evans we perform a three-concert tour of a European city. This year we will be in based in Delft in the Netherlands, singing Mozart’s beautiful Missa Brevis in D minor in three historic churches around the country. Other choral classics will include Zadok the Priest by Handel, Fauré’s Cantique de Jean Racine, and Lotti’s Crucifixus.

Our fourth and final concert is back in St Peter’s Church, Berkhamsted on Saturday 12th September at 7pm. Tickets will be £22 on the door and £20 in advance, £10 for 18-25 year olds, and free if you are under 18. Join us if you can – just click on the button below!

Will Todd

with Christmas music and carols for choir and audience

Our much loved annual Christmas Concert!

Will Todd spent his formative years steeped in choral music and jazz. Nowadays he is one of our most popular contemporary composers, and has written several Choral Jazz works expertly blending the two. Tonight’s main piece Jazz Missa Brevis began life as as a series of improvisations which he honed and developed into completed movements, each with their own style. The result is a vibrant and inspiring choral setting of the sung Latin Mass texts, much loved by choirs and audiences alike.

Also on the bill are many other choral festive favourites sung by Berkhamsted Choral and Bridgewater School Choir, and Christmas carols for everyone – all accompanied by English Philharmonia Brass (this year incorporating a jazz trio and alto sax!) and our amazing organist Iestyn Evans.
